Carriers & fleet operators

Document responsible cargo management and identify unauthorized access.

Case:

Increasing Cargo protection with BoxHound

Most carriers have limited visibility into the contents of intermodal containers unless declared as hazardous cargo. Despite multiple security layers, cargo theft, tampering, and contamination remain persistent threats.

Even with insurance, the impact on shippers can be severe—supply shortages, production delays, and retail disruptions—all leading to financial losses and reputational risks for freight forwarders and carriers.

Identifying security breaches in the supply chain effects mitigation future losses and liability.

BoxHound: Real-Time Cargo Protection

BoxHound provides instant notifications and precise time and location data whenever unauthorized access occurs.

Key Benefits:

🔹 Real-Time Alerts – Immediate notifications of container breaches.
🔹 Investigation Support – Critical data aids in identifying perpetrators.
🔹 Liability Protection – Document and verify that no tampering occurred while the cargo was under your responsibility.
🔹 Reputation Strengthening – Demonstrate proactive security measures to clients and stakeholders.

By integrating BoxHound, carriers and freight forwarders can enhance security, reduce liability, and build trust in the global supply chain.

The problem: Safe management, on-time transport, and efficient delivery of cargo are the characteristics of a trustworthy shipping company. Although reputation is not the only measuring element (wrong word), bad reputation may result in loosing customers, retaining and attracting skilled employees, getting external financing and loss of business.

It may be difficult for a carrier to prove that a cargo container has not been breached and cargo tampered with whilst in their possession; such criminal activity may only be discovered when approached by customs, law enforcement or by the shipper upon arrival.

Unauthorized access may ultimately result in additional inspections, detainment, arrest, investigation, imprisonment of employees and assets and subsequent delay in delivery and un-satisfied customers.

How Boxhound can help: While we can't prevent unauthorized access, theft and tampering, our solution can provide voyage data to support when and where the container has been accessed.

We can assist you in proving beyond reasonable doubt that any un-authorized access did not happen while the cargo was under your responsibility which will strengthen your brand and reputation as a responsible cargo operator and ultimately help acquitting your crew and employees from any wrongdoing.
